45 miles. 72 km.
The Pendle Way is a 45 mile, 72 km circular walk North from Manchester, Lancashire. Witchcraft is in the middle of this all. In this very region the twelve Pendle Witches lived. Ten of them were hanged in 1612.
Presuming this can't be an coincidence, you are a warned walker by now. Especially Pendle Hill plays an importent role in this tragedy, and you must pass this terrible place. The Brontë Sisters lived in this area, and their novels, though written two centuries later, are still full of dark and evil powers.
In between you can breath safely, enjoying the moorlands, limestone meadows and little hamlets.
The trail is not very well known. Another reason to be on your guard.
